We make it fun!

Our Children’s Ministry Team is dedicated to teaching the Word of God to children...and making it fun to learn! We have selected and enhanced our children’s curriculum to challenge and engage our children. We want them to want to know the Lord and desire His presence in their lives. Our mission is to keep the children coming back. Whether it is during Worship or our Equippng Hour, Nursery Care, Little Blessings Ministry, Mission Mania or our annual Vacation Bible School, our entire Children’s Ministry team puts their energies into making the experience enjoyable, educational and spirited!

Your children are important to us...

...and to God. Our team of dedicated Children’s Ministry workers strive to deliver meaningful, Bibically-sound, and fun lessons that engage your children’s minds, hearts and bodies. Your child will be introduced to God’s Word and learn how to use its wisdom to guide them through their days. Our child-centered worship and lessons are presented in a safe, secure and comfortable environment filled with love.

Infant Care (newborns up to 2 years old)

Infant childcare is provided in our Nursery located in Room 211 from 8:15 a.m. - Noon. You'll be asked to sign in and offered a pager so we can keep in touch with you as you enjoy Worship, attend an Equipping Hour class or special event in the church building. Carol Hess, our Nursery Coordinator, welcomes a conversation with you at any time.

Swing by anytime and see the warm, loving environment of this ministry space which includes ample 'crawl space'!

Little Blessings Ministry

While parents enjoy 11:00 a.m. Worship, Toddlers through PreK/5 year olds are invited to Room 309 for creative play, Bible storytelling, music and art. Dress-up costumes, games, building blocks of all shapes and sizes, a library of books and a fully stocked 'kitchen' makes for a fun time each and every week.

Mission Mania

We're all about connecting with God and connecting with one another! We're all about learning how we can to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our families, our neighbors, and throughout the world.

Children - Kindergarten through 6th grade enjoy worship at 8:30 or 11:00 a.m. with their families until they are dismissed to head up to our unique ministry space. We'll gather around the prayer wall or enjoy prayer walks together, work on our special card and placemat ministries, prepare for our seasonal visits to nearby Ephrata Manor, and have a fun time growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. It's all about practicing our discipleship in fun and loving ways!

Equipping Hour - Calling all children to grow in Jesus!

You simply need to head to the third floor where our dedicated ministry team of volunteers waits to greet each child at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday. We are committed to filling that hour with opportunities for your children to dig deep into God's word for understanding and truth, practice praise and prayer, and explore what being a disciple of Jesus Christ is all about through storytelling, drama, music, and art.

Our Ministry Coordinators are available to talk with you at anytime. Please contact Elaine Blakeslee Children's Ministry Director for more info.

Join our 5th and 6th graders each Sunday as they 'GRAPPLE' in God's word with questions about 'What was God thinking?' and 'Is it really sin if I don't know it is?'

We shout out a big 'thank you' to parents who serve as special event coordinators and chaperones for the students. From Flashlight corn mazes, snowtubing and ice skating - to our CLUB 56 Campout at the Church Farm and occasional breakfast out at Wendy's, these students enjoy many opportunities to be knitted together in love and fun! Contact Cathy Witmer, Ministry Coordinator, for more info.

We make it Safe, Secure and Healthy

Thanks for partnering with us to ensure that all persons, and especially our children, always have a safe, secure and healthy experience here at Ephrata First UMC. Security desks are located in the nursery room (211) and on the third floor. Sign-In and Sign-Out procedures are used for our Nursery and our 2 Years - 5Yrs/Pre-K so we can always ensure that our children are safe within our Church Family here at Ephrata First UMC.

Your children deserve a healthy environment when they come to church. Our ministry teams follow these guidelines, and we ask that parents do the same when deciding whether to bring children to church. If any of the following are observed in the 24 hours prior to church, we ask that caregivers and children remain at home:

  • Fever of 101 or higher
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Questionable rash
  • Discharge in or around the eyes
  • Green or yellow runny nose
  • Excessive coughing
  • Any communicable disease
  • You will be notified immediately if your child becomes ill while at church. If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for 24 hours before coming to church.

Special Needs means special opportunities for us to partner with parents on how we can best work together for the spiritual development of your children. Thanks for alerting us about any allergies your child has on an ongoing basis. Contact Elaine Blakeslee, Children's Ministry Director.
